Sikth
Summer Rain is a good example of what is clearly creative and original. I was surfing around and did find someone by the nickname of “petrucci dude” who applied an effective tone blend to mimic Sikth’s tone. He used an RG with Dimarzio Dsonic’s in his seven string bridge and ran that straight into his soundcard and through GuitarRig 4 using the Ultrasonic amp into an Orange cab (left) and Marshall Plexi (right) both using dynamic mics. He then double tracked the rhythm parts and panned them hard right and left. For the drum tracks, he used Drumkit from Hell Superior Version 1 (DFHS 1) from Toontrack with a Sonor setup and an assortment of Waves plugins. Have a listen.
